DOMAIN NAME QUESTIONS and ANSWERS

Can Smart Web Hosts host my domain name that I've bought elsewhere?

Yes, simply ask your current registrar, or use your control panel (within your current hosting environment) to modify nameserver details to:

Primary nameserver address: ns1.smartwebhosts.co.uk
Primary nameserver IP: 93.174.141.42

Secondary nameserver address: ns2.smartwebhosts.co.uk
Secondary nameserver IP: 93.174.141.43

FTP: 93.174.141.49

What are domain names?

A Domain Name is a unique 'web address name' that you register, this Domain Name can then be used to direct people to your website.

Like postal addresses, Domain Names need to be unique so that people (computers) using the web can find you. If there wasn't a unique name for every website on the web, it simply would not work.

They correspond to a series of numbers (called Internet Protocol numbers) that serve as routing addresses on the Internet. Domain names are used generally as a convenient way of locating information and reaching others on the Internet. So instead of having to type 209.85.50.59 you can just type www.smartwebhosts.co.uk
